Watch: Inspired by Bike Messengers
My friend David turned me on to this video. One of my favorite things to do is to ride through the streets of Portland at night. There isn’t any thrill greater than mingling with traffic. But Portland traffic is light at night. And I typically stop at red lights. I’m hoping after we spend seven weeks on our bikes, we have guts like these guys. But right now this just seems crazy. Maybe by the time we get to the Dallas City Ride we can interact with some of that freeway traffic. For now, enjoy!

i love these clips, there is actually a whole series of them racing from one end of town to the other - some, if not most, of the riders are on fixed gear bikes! I can’t imagine running around busy traffic with no freewheel!
good luck on your ride, i rode 545 miles over 7 days from San Francisco to Los Angeles for AIDS last June. As a cyclist that spent a minimum of 150 miles a week on a bike, let me tell you, by day 3 my rear was DONE! Spend a lot of time on your saddle before D-Day, trust me

josh, thanks for the advice. my rear is pretty good, right now, it’s my back that kills. but i think that will be par for the course. that sounds like an awesome ride for a great cause. i actually have a friend who did a similar ride out of san fran, but i can’t remember what year. anyway, thanks, man!
