Portland, Oregon, May 29th
Last night I hit the road in the rain, just wanting to get back on the bike after having been away for the long weekend. It ended up being a great ride, but it never stopped raining. I did just under 40 miles, so the miles are picking up a bit. I actually didn’t realize how wet I was until I walked into a gas station to fill up on water and, once in a dry place, felt and looked like I had just stepped out of a shower. I left a puddle everywhere I went in the little mart.
So, I talked with Aaron Smith today and he seems to think my training has gone well. I will have to pick it up for at least two really hard, long rides this week, then that will be it. From what I’ve been told, there is no way to prepare completely for as many daily miles as we will be doing. The first two weeks are going to be rough. But for some reason I am looking forward to it. I think it will be easy compared to having to wrap up the rough draft of this book. More later!

You can do it - the ride, and the book. I believe in you. I’m glad you enjoyed our retreat. I was able to draw closer to God (thanks to you), and make new friends. I’m glad you were there.

You’ve inspired me! I’ve decided to ride my bike around town (SE Portland) each day your team is on the road, supporting the cause on my bike and my blog.
Have a great summer, and enjoy the ride!
