Stopped outside Phoenix

utterz-image
After being stuck in the desert yesterday and stopping anywhere we could find shade (which ended up being a practically abandoned r.v. Neighborhood) we got up around 4 this morning and pedaled out toward Phoenix to beat the heat. We knew it would be a 105 mile day but hoped to stop 60 miles out to eat and rest and swim. So right now we are at a park. We will pull out of here at 3 to start moving toward Phoenix. I now understand how it feels to be a storm front, always moving at 15 miles per hour, always getting caught up somewhere unexpected. That’s what we have become. The weather.

Tomorrow we have the day off so I will send pics to the blog. The ride is going very well. We are in terrific spirits. Thanks for the prayers!

What a small world, I grew up in wickenburg and I use to swim at that park all the time. Enjoy your ride through the AZ.

    hey don,

enjoying periodic checks here and impressed today with how every minute of every mile you’re riding holds pints, literally, of life and story. hang in there…can’t imagine the range of what you’re feeling these hours.

random sharing here, but if your muscles happen to be wearing low, i’ve recently discovered a simple, cheap remedy. tennis balls. you think they’re just small blobs of yellow fluff. not so much. they happen to be one of the best massage therapists you’ll ever find. you can lay on your back and simply change positions of the ball (no need to roll, even…just let it lay deep into your muscle) from lower back, middle, neck, etc. and then if you sit-up with your legs out, you can offer yourself some killer hamstring and calf massage. okay, enough random though.

PEACE be with you and the team this evening.

What you are doing is truly heroic. We will continue to pray for the groups journey. If you find yourself around the San Antonio area, feel free to drop in for a rest. We have plenty of room and lots of homecooked food. And according to my husband my chocolate chip cookies are “smack your granny” good(He’s from the south). It would be our joy to serve you all.

    Blessings,
